Ascension Weekend-May

There was no going away on holiday for this 4-day weekend, so we explored a little more close to home.

Hiking and grilling at Raten.  I just love this place.  Great, short hikes, play areas, great views, grill pits, & a great restaurant.
Dad is our grill expert.
Teaching Allison a thing or two.
Playing while waiting for dinner to cook.

Hiking and exploring.
Ziplining.
Swinging.  Our great evening ended early as it started to rain, but it was still fun.

Swimming.  It isn't a school break without some fun in the water.  We headed to Lattich for some great swimming.

The girls did this slide over and over again!
One big, happy, wet family!

We took advantage of some sunshine and headed to the Interlaken area to see the Geissbach Falls.

This is the road we travelled up...talk about making someone car-sick.
Ready to hike.
Under the falls and feeling the water.
These two love to explore and adventure out!
My first hike after my knee surgery...it went pretty well.
Amazing view from the top!
Happy hikers.
We made it back to the bottom.
There is always a playground!
Waiting for the funicular to take us back to the top.
Alex is widdling.
Oldest funicular in Europe.

Happy Mother's Day to me...with my 4 wonderful children!

April Random Photos

Clara showing us how she climbs trees at school...such a great climber!
Alex's class did the assembly for their school.  They put on the play of "The 3 Little Pigs", but the version through the eyes of the wolf and Alex was the wolf.  He was incredible!  I see some acting in his future!
Some science time with baking soda and food coloring.  A bit messy, but they loved it.
Allison just loves walking around with a baby.  She'll be a great mom some day.  Notice the train set in the background?  She plays on the that just as much:).

Swiss Knife Making-April

You can't live in Switzerland without making your own Victorianox Swiss Army knife.  So we headed to Brunen to do just that.  It was great!
Alex taking part in making his knife...he was lucky #1 to go first.
Clara making her knife.  They guy who assisted us was great with the little kids.
Sammy was a pro at making her knife.
Allison even got to make her own knife with daddy's help.
George loved it as much as the kids did!
The kids holding their finished knives!
Family photo in their little museum.
It was a rainy day, but we set off to explore the cute town anyways.
Right off of Lake Lucern...so beautiful!

Sunny Days

Enjoying some sunny weather in April....

On April 15th we made our way into the crowded streets of Zurich for Sechseläuten.  This is a holiday where they burn a snowman to see what the weather will be like.  If it burns slowly we will have a cold Spring and if it burns fast it will be a warm Spring.  There were loads of people we could barely move, but it was worth it.
The snowman before getting burned.
To keep the girls happy we ended up with these enormous balloons.

Allison will do anything to go to a park.  She loves the swings and the slides.  So, any good weather we head to a park.
Hikin in Raten.

Rapperswil Kinderzoo with Allison and her friends.
Allison had to have a pony ride!  She loved it!

Catching Up...St. Gallen

It has been way too long since I posted and now I am so far behind.  But this is one of my only ways of documenting what we are doing, so I am going back a few months.

In April we took a Saturday and headed to St. Gallen.  We walked through the city streets making our way to the Abbey Library and Cathedral.  The Abbey Library was amazing!  We saw books/manuscripts 1000s of years old.  And it was so beautiful too.  Along the way we did some shopping and some eating.  A great Saturday!

Of course we had to go for a ride on one of these.
 George and Alex walking along.
