Sammy's Birthday Party

Sammy wanted to continue celebrating her birthday, so we had a cooking birthday party.

Clara showing us the schedule of events.
Making aprons and chef hats.

The girls ready to start cooking (Katie, Beatrize, Jenna, Sammy, & Emily).   They made their own pizzas, decorated their own cakes, & did a little smell/tasting test.
Singing happy birthday to Sammy.  The watched some episodes of Cake Boss and they went to sleep or actually didn't sleep, but isn't that what sleepovers are for?

Random Summer Time Photos

We had an amazing summer!  After all those pictures there were just a few more I wanted to share.

Allison finally getting into the cold water and loving it!
What a big girl in that chair!
Clara stopping for just a second for a quick picture...love that pose!
Who can resist a cute little bum like that?!
Grandma cutting Sammy's hair...it broke my heart to let her cut her hair, but she loves it shorter.
What a handsome guy and that smile melts my heart.
Sammy did violin camp in August and they had a little performance to show us what they learned.  I love listening to her play.

Swiss National Day-August 1st, 2012

Starting out Swiss National Day (their Independence day) with some Swiss pancakes...I really need to work on my pancake making skills.
Spent the day relaxing at the Horgen badi swimming in the cool water and enjoying the sun.
Spent the evening at the Ruschlikon badi with many Expat families.  There was live music...all American songs of course.  The girls couldn't resist dancing on stage.
Allison wanted in on the action and danced with grandma.
The have this tradition where they light lanterns and let them go.  The first few lanterns have the Swiss flags and then each family is given a white one to send off.  So magical to see the sky filled with them.
Then a barge floats right in front of us letting off fireworks.  It is a spectacular show.  Alex watching with Patrick Dublin.
The little girls eating and watching the fireworks. (Clara, Haven, Natalie, & Cassidy)
The big kids watching the fireworks.
It was a magical night.  The only down side was saying good-bye to our dear friends the Dublins.  They are missed greatly!

Day trip #8 with Grandma Hobbs-Luzern

One last day trip with Grandma--Luzern.  We drove past it over and over again and finally we made it.  This time we road the train there.  Cuddling with grandma on the way there.
Old town bridge and those beautiful flowers!  We walked across the bridge and though the old town.  Some great shops where Grandma and myself had fun buying shoes:).
Walking along the old town wall and up and down towers.  This time we could see the working of the old clock in one tower...amazing how it keeps with time using gravity & a pulley system.
Bus ride to try to find the lion in the side of the mountain.  We passed our stop so had a few minutes to wait.  Sammy had actually understood the German announcement for our stop, but I didn't believe her.  Guess I need to trust her German over mine.  She is better at it then I am.
The crying lion in the rock.  He is crying for all the Swiss soldiers who died defending the French king.
A great trip!
