Zermatt-Day 2 June

The next day after a delicious European style breakfast we headed up the Gornergrat Bahn where we did some more shopping, took pictures with St. Bernard dogs, ate lunch, and took in the mountain views.

 On the way we stopped off at one of the stations hoping to hike down to the next station, but it had been too cold of a spring and much of the path was still covered in snow.  So the kids climbed the rocks while we waited for the next train instead.

 After riding down a few more stations we got off and found a park for the kids to play at.  Tiffany and I snuck away to have a nice quiet drink and let the dads worry about the kids.

 After returning to town we watched the local kids bring the goats back from grazing to their homes.  Aren't these goats so fun...half black/half white called the valais blackneck.

Zermatt-Day 1 June

The day after school got out we headed off to Zermatt with our favorite vacationing family the Laczkowskis.  We took the train down and the kids had a great time playing with their friends (mostly on electronics of course).  When we arrived we quickly found a pizza place to eat and then set off to find our hotel.  It was a cute B & B run by a sweet family.  No one was even there to check us in.  We just signed our names to the list and the keys were in rooms which were unlocked.  Amazing!  Now we wanted to find a fun place for the kids to play and the parents to enjoy the mountains.  We found it at the Leisee.  We took the Sunnegga train through the mountain and then a little cable car down to an incredible playground by the lake.

 After returning from Sunnegga we walked through Zermatt finding these old structures.  They were built off the ground like this to prevent mice from getting into the food/grain stored inside.

 Dinner was at GramPi's...kid friendly and very delicious!  They even seated our 11 all together!

 That night we had the most incredible view of the Matterhorn!  It was breathtaking!  Made the whole trip worth it to see the whole mountain without even a cloud in the way!  Beautiful!  I feel in love!
